Does it hurt? The simple answer is no. The suction of the cups will feel like a pull on your skin, whilst the superficial blade incisions (during wet cupping) may feel similar to a light scratch. Post wet cupping you may experience slight itching, we recommend using olive oil to soothe this feeling.
Do the bruises stay for a long time? The marks following cupping therapy are not bruises, they are marks known as ecchymosis. The shades of these marks vary significantly and give us a good indication of your blood circulation. The discoloration is not subject to the level of melanocytes in the skin, thus the colour and meaning is the same across all ethnic backgrounds. The length of appearance of these marks vary from one individual to the other but generally are gone within 2 weeks.
Do you re-use the cups? No. Our sterile cups and surgical blades are for single-use, meaning we use new cups/blades every session.
How long is a cupping session? This is dependant on the therapy and package you opt for. Generally our sessions last from 20 minutes upwards. Our popular 'healthybulbs detox' lasts up to 60 minutes, book your session today to find out!
How often should I do cupping? There's no specific answer, some people like to come monthly, some every three months and some once or twice a year. Generally, we recommend every 8-12 weeks. In specific cases and treatments such as aiding in fertility, you would be required to book two sessions a month.
We're certain you have questions, to reassure you and keep your mind at ease, we've answered some of the most frequently asked questions below.
Remember, prior to any of our cupping sessions, we conduct a consultation to ensure we are both aware of the therapy and answer any questions you may have!
